| on jack stands but not able to when on the car is on the ground leads me to believe you still have adjustment issues. How much is the slave rod moving when the pedal is pressed on. It should travel a very good amount. If it is not making full travel then maybe you still have air, or need to make some more adjustments to the pedal. BEHAVIOR: Engages too close to floor, may grind when putting into 1st or reverse. REMEDY: rotate rod clockwise (rod is unscrewed from clevis making it longer). BEHAVIOR: Engages too far away from floor, slipping may also be present. REMEDY: rotate rod counter clockwise (rod is screwed into clevis making it shorter). http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/FAQpages/clutchadjustment.html
I hope this link helps but I am sure you are already aware of it. Also make sure you have enough tranny fluid. It may be that you lost tranny fluid when placing it back into place. I am not completely sure of all the "maintance" you did so I am guessing on some of these.
